SCEC COMPLETES BREVARD COUNTY SOUND WALL

SCEC successfully completed another sound barrier wall project ahead of schedule for the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT).

This FDOT District 5 project included the fabrication and installation of 76,000 square feet (3,465 linear feet) of precast sound barrier wall along northbound Interstate 95 in west Cocoa.

Some residents in the Brevard County neighborhoods alongside I-95 had endured the traffic noise for more than 40 years. The highway was completed in 1972, with the traffic and noise increasing through the years.

SCEC completed the project in 169 days, 47 days early.

Project scope included precast structures, auger-cast pilings, cast-in-place structures, precast sound wall, cast-in-place sound wall, earthwork, drainage, structural concrete, and Class 5 coatings.

Since constructing the first sound wall in Florida in 1986 along I-95 for FDOT District 6, SCEC remains a leader in Florida sound wall construction. More sound walls have been constructed in Florida by SCEC than any other FDOT contractor.
