North Andrews Gardens Community Center

This CMAR public project built by SCEC created a new centerpiece in a rising residential neighborhood. The building is part of Oakland Park’s “Building Our 2nd Century” initiative. A new modern 5,992 SF community center replaced two outdated buildings onsite. A highlight of the community center interior is the large multipurpose room with elevated ceiling height, a folding partition wall to divide the space as need, and acoustical grid lights. The building also includes offices, a lobby, two group restrooms, a laundry room, catering kitchen, and computer room with a dividing movable partition wall.

The new exterior amenities feature a state-of-the-art playground with high-end play equipment, rubber flooring, shade structures, a covered concrete patio for outdoor gatherings, and a regulation-size basketball court. A butterfly garden and rock garden attract visitors as well. Other exterior scope items included site drainage and utilities, exterior restrooms, a new parking lot, site lighting, and illuminated building signage.
