This Design-Build SCEC project created a state-of-the-art new library for the Miami-Dade Public Library System. The LEED project, designed by Silva Architects, includes large storefront windows as well as six large skylights all with low-e glass that allow natural light to permeate throughout the entire space. The library offers large meeting rooms and an open-floor concept for the circulation area. An advanced Audio/Visual package allows seamless sound and video display control of the entire building from a central location. The building features production and post-production rooms, a brick paver courtyard, and a café space. The County’s Art in Public Places program was a key component of the project, with art installations incorporated in both the interior and exterior areas.
