Homestead - Field Station Phase I
The Homestead Field Station Building Replacements Project is a design-build project that involved replacing the existing office, administrative, and maintenance buildings at the southern Miami-Dade County South Florida Water Management District (SFWMD) field station. The existing facilities no longer meet modern hurricane standards and have reached the end of their service life.
The first phase of the project includes 8,000 SF of office space designed to house 26 personnel and featuring a conference room, break room, locker rooms, showers, and a workroom. The 13,000 SF maintenance building provides six maintenance bays equipped for repairing and maintaining the district’s largest vehicles. A new fueling station and generator are also part of the first phase.
In Phase 2, the existing administration building is being replaced with a new 9,500 SF building. Two additional maintenance buildings, a new truck wash, and a heliport are also being constructed onsite.
SCEC collaborates with its partner Carty Architecture to design this modern facility.
SCEC mobilizes onsite in March 2021 and substantially completes the first phase of the project in summer 2022.
The SFWMD is a regional governmental agency that manages water resources in the southern half of Florida. Created in 1949, it remains the oldest and largest of the state's five water management districts. The agency manages and protects South Florida’s water resources by balancing and improving flood control, water supply, water quality, and natural systems.
