SCEC PROJECT WINS DESIGN-BUILD AWARD

A State Contracting & Engineering Corp. (SCEC) design-build project has earned an award from the Florida Region of the Design-Build Institute of America (DBIA). The South Florida Water Management District (SFWMD) Homestead Field Station Building Replacements project won a Merit Award in the Federal, State, County, Municipal Category for the 2023 DBIA Florida Region Awards.

The District’s project management staff accepted the award at the DBIA Florida annual conference in Orlando.

The Homestead, Florida, Field Station project features a new office building, maintenance/storage building, and fueling station to effectively meet the current and future needs of the District. The office facility accommodates 26 employees, and the maintenance building has six maintenance bays with equipment for the repair and maintenance of the District’s largest vehicles.

The SFWMD is responsible for managing and protecting the water resources of South Florida, and the Homestead Field Station is an integral part of the District’s efforts in Southern Miami-Dade County.

Carty Architecture was the architect partner of SCEC on the design-build project. The design and construction emphasize function and efficiency without sacrificing aesthetics. Construction was substantially completed in November 2022.
